Dr. HENRY DANIELL

You don’t usually look to tobacco plants to solve the world’s greatest health challenges, but Dr. Henry Daniell has a vision.  My goal is for UCF to be the world’s first university to produce plant-based vaccines and bio-pharmaceuticals.  Henry’s anthrax vaccine earned him a congratulatory call from the Director of Homeland Security. And he continues researching possible cures for diabetes and other autoimmune diseases, a topical cream that prevents the transmission of HIV, and an oral insulin delivery that costs just pennies.  But how did it all start?  UCF gave me the opportunity to build my team and design my own lab.  Taking responsibility for our future. Making a world of difference. That’s UCF.
